Affordable Umrah Packages from the UK

Umrah is the lesser pilgrimage to Makkah. Unlike Hajj, it can be performed at any time of year, and the rites themselves take a few hours rather than several days.

Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime for every adult Muslim who is physically and financially able, and it takes place on set days in the month of Dhul Hijjah. We arrange Hajj packages from the UK separately.

Umrah has four main rites, performed in this order:

• Ihram: make your intention and enter the state of ihram before you cross the miqat. If you fly into Jeddah, you pass the miqat in the air, so most pilgrims change before or during the flight.
• Tawaf: walk seven times around the Kaaba, starting from the Black Stone, then pray two rak’ahs.
• Sa’i: walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.
• Halq or taqsir: men shave their heads or trim their hair, and women trim a fingertip’s length from the end of their hair.

The star rating mostly decides how close your hotel is to the Haram and how comfortable your room is. 3 star Umrah packages keep the cost down, 4 star packages bring you closer, and 5 star Umrah packages usually put you nearest to the Haram.

If you are travelling with older parents or young children, a closer hotel is often worth the extra cost.

A 7 night Umrah package from the UK suits most first-time pilgrims and anyone with limited time off work. It usually splits your stay between Makkah and Madinah.

10 and 14 night packages give you more time for prayer, ziyarat and rest, which matters in busy seasons or when you travel with family. We can also arrange 12 night stays and other lengths on request.

Umrah in Ramadan carries a special reward, so it is the busiest and most expensive time to go. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, and the last ten nights book up first.

• A passport valid for at least six months from your date of travel.
• An Umrah visa or Saudi eVisa, which we arrange as part of your package.
• The Nusuk app, to book your Umrah permit and a visit to the Rawdah.
• A meningitis ACWY vaccination, given at least 10 days before you travel.

• Two white, unstitched ihram sheets for men, and loose, modest clothing for women.
• Comfortable sandals or shoes that are easy to slip off at the mosque.
• Unscented soap, shampoo and toiletries, as perfume is not allowed in ihram.
• A small bag for your shoes, a refillable water bottle and any regular medicines.
